The papers collected in this page are written by the first year students of the course in Urban Studies and in Human Geography, taught by Prof. Alessandro Petti at Honors College Al-Quds Bard University in Abu Dies (www.alqudsbard.org). The path designed by those two courses engage in the development of a critical reading of the contemporary space in Palestine. The urban space is explored with an interdisciplinary approach (architecture, urban design, sociology, anthropology, geography, literature, visual arts) aiming to uncover the way cities are a result of a complex interaction of social, political and economic forces. In particular students writes about how political conflicts are not only registered but also are operate through the transformation of the urban space. Particular attention is given to issues related to social and spatial justice. This page archives the selection of the best papers written by the students, as result of the training on spatial investigation and comprehension, operated through combining walks and theoretical studies.
